MOURIR POUR SOI

Dying is something we normally avoid thinking about. But when living comes to mean wasting away, losing all autonomy, seeing one's very identity eroded, death may be a welcome deliverance. Living wills, heroic medical intervention, active euthanasia, passive euthanasia— which choices does our society allow? With courage and heart, critically ill people speak about quality of life and their wish to die with dignity. We also hear from doctors who advocate a more humane, less controlling approach to illness and death, which would allow us to die in a manner of our choosing.

QUÉBEC: DUPLESSIS ET APRÈS ...

This film establishes a parallel between the 1970 electoral campaign in Québec and the 1936 campaign dominated by Maurice Duplessis. Using skillfully-edited live footage and historical documents such as ‘‘Le Catéchisme des électeurs’’ and the Durham Report, the filmmaker examines the light of hope that appeared in the 1970 provincial elections, asking the question: Had the Quiet Revolution really changed things in Québec? Was it possible that a new leader would emerge on the political scene?
