TOILE D'ARAIGNÉE, LA
This feature-length film, which can also be presented as a five-part series, is an attempt to teach viewers the ABCs of art, through the practice of visual arts: an overall explanation and illustration of art, an attempt to delve into the reasons for the gap that isolates art from the public at large. This is the third installment in a trilogy that began with BOZARTS ET COLLAGE 2 OU LA FOUGÈRE ET LA ROUILLE. Poorly received by adults who had no art education as a child (part 1), often made popular through scandal rather than for its own merit (part 2), visual art can grow into the art of living, when a work of art translates itself into the life of an individual or a group of people, like in Val-David, a town filled with artists and craftspeople (part 3). How can the notion of creative experience be defined? (part 4). How can art and the ideas it expresses be defined? (part 5). This documentary on the art community in Québec in 1979 is a collection of artists and masterpieces, a finely sculpted piece of cinematography that expresses a deep love of art. (Filmed in five parts.)
