Documentary
EN DERNIER RECOURS
This film examines a subject that is rarely addressed by the media: terrorism in Canadian society. From Montréal to Vancouver, with stops at Québec and Toronto, frustrated activists, working underground, strike out against a State that is fully prepared to protect its integrity. Individuals fed up with their mediocre existence wake up one day and decide that they must save humanity, and they alone will execute their personal justice. This film is at once a report, an essay, and a critical analysis of the phenomenon. It contains commentaries by Serge Daoust, Franco Piperno, François Schirm, Pierre Vallières and young militants representing the magazine Révoltes.

COMIC BOOK CONFIDENTIAL
Almost from their beginning, comic books have been surrounded by controversy. But 'corruptor of youth' or no, the sheer vitality of the popular art form has kept it alive. And now, in the late 1980s, comic books are flourishing in a way they never have before. The film profiles 22 of the most significant artists and writers working in comic books, graphic novels and strip-art in North America today. From Jack Kirby's Captain America and the superhero fervour of the war years, through Will Eisner's cinematic The Spirit to the witch-hunts of the fifties and the irreverent Mad magazine, the film traces both the origins and the progress of comic books. Using the recollections and present-day experiences of the industry's most creative people, along with sometimes amusing, sometimes amazing archival footage, this is informative and entertaining foray into pop culture. Participants and featured artists: Lynda Barry, Charles Burns, Sue Coe, Robert Crumb, Will Eisner, Al Feldstein, Sherry Flenniken, William M. Gaines, Bill Griffith, Jaime Hernandez, Jack Kirby, Harvey Kurtzman, Stan Lee, Paul Mavrides, Frank Miller, Victor Moscoso, Françoise Mouly, Dan O'Neill, Harvey Pekar, Gilbert Shelton, Spain, Art Spiegelman.

TRACES DU RÊVE, LES
From the gardens of Versailles to Isle-aux-Coudres, this documentary tells the story of Pierre Perrault’s adventure with exceptional cinematography, an adventure that is paralleled by history. As it portrays the life of the poet-filmmaker, the film offers a critical analysis of his work. There is an intention to deepen the viewer’s reflection on the films he produced and the man himself, who chased after the perfect images, only to become the object of pursuit himself, as his certainties and doubts are revealed.

10 DAYS, 48 HOURS
March 1985. After a six-month strike, the trawlers are once again heading out from Bonavista, bound for fishing grounds on the Grand Banks, off the coast of Labrador. They will fish for 10 days, then return to land for 48 hours. The camera follows the fishing expedition of the ZANDBERG, as it returns to shore and unloads its catch, which is immediately frozen before being shipped to the Danvers plant, near Boston, where it will be processed...in other words, prepared in whatever manner is popular at the time.

ANTICOSTE, L'
Anticosti Island is synonymous with abundance: deer, salmon, birds, fossils, trees and mysteries abound. It also has a high number of shipwrecks, facilities, canyons and riffs. This island has plenty of history and destiny. It also has the town of Port-Menier and its 347 inhabitants. A joy to see and hear, this film explores the history of this relatively unknown island in the Gulf of the St. Lawrence through larger-than-life images.
