SILENT MESSANGERS is a film about the sculptures found throughout the north. For 40 years, ethnographer Norman Hallendy has travelled with Inuit elders in the Canadian Arctic observing and understanding the vast landscape and mysterious stone sculptures that stand upon it. On this journey he is joined by renowned sculptor, filmmaker and actor, Natar Ungalaq, star of the ground breaking motion picture ATANARJUAT, The Fast Runner.

In 1990, Victor Pellerin, a young painter and darling of the scene, burns his work and disappears without a trace. Fifteen years later, the documentary filmmaker Sophie Deraspe looks back on past events, meeting relatives and now well known personalities who were influenced by Victor Pellerin. Alternating between interviews and direct cinema, the film delves into the world of this charismatic figure and attempts to identify contradictions and motives of everyone trying to preserve their version of the truth.
