Laurent and Olivier, ages 9 and 5, recover from the loss of their mother who died three years ago. Their father, Jacques, flees his solitude and pain by devoting himself entirely to his work. While Olivier, the younger child, reminds him of his wife and occupies a special place in his heart, the elder child, Laurent, remains perceived by his father as a turbulent, insensitive and impenetrable child. It is not until after a major event that Jacques becomes aware of his elder son’s fragility and love.
