JOURNÉE D'UN CURÉ DE CAMPAGNE, LA

This film examines a dying breed: the countryside parish priest. The priest featured in this film is a throwback to the 19th century, a time when the parish priest was the religious authority and the only highly-educated person in town. We are taken on a journey into his sequestered world and given a glimpse into his daily life: church, rectory, prayers, ceremonies, accessories, ministry, sermons, opinions, religious role and social influence. Through his official functions, we come to know the man himself: Antonio Arsenault, priest of Saint-Séverin-de-Beauce, a humble, charming man with a heart of gold. He is a one-man wonder, with unbelievable dedication, who does as much good for the community as an entire CLSC.
