13-year-old Virginia is a girl born to ride horses. Since the death of her mother, her father fears of putting his daughter in harm’s way. Defying her father’s orders that she not ride, she sneaks out each night, riding Stormy across the countryside. In a devastating move, Stormy is sold to new owners. With the help of her sister, Caroline and a new trainer in the area, Jessie, Virginia’s father, Ford, comes to understand that he must allow Virginia her freedom by giving her free rein. Ford cleverly buys back the horse and permits Virginia to enter the coveted 50 Mile Endurance Race. Only now is she able to see if she is up to the challenge of her dreams.
