In his suburban home, a man is killed in cold blood in front of his 10-year-old son, who is then kidnapped by a person wearing an impish mask. Nico Ferri, a 35-year-old former police officer, works for himself as a private detective. The man who was mysteriously murdered was his brother-in-law. He decides to take charge of the investigation himself, calling upon a friend and former co-worker, Officer Brodeur. In an attempt to identify the criminal, Brodeur makes a list of some unhinged individuals whom Nico had arrested and who had recently been released. But the sinister evildoer strikes again, this time kidnapping Nico's sister. Everything points to a maniac who is thirsty for revenge, and Nico is the obvious target. Convinced that there is only one solution to thwart the felon, Nico sets off on the search.
