To please his wife Yvonne, Michel Sénéchal gives up deep-sea fishing. Alleviating boredom one evening with a bottle of rum, he sees an approaching circus whose main attraction is none other than Elsa, a unique and authentic mermaid. Elsa can communicate through telepathy and she tells Michel her story, asking him to take her back home to Polynesia where she lived before being captured. This is just the thing to revive the fisherman's sense of adventure. What might have been a mere excursion turns into a mad getaway when Gaëtan and Scipion, the circus directors, find their trail.
