Christmas Eve in a remote prairie town. Set in a truck stop miles from anywhere two characters hold the stage for the first half-hour in magisterial fashion. She has run the place alone since her alcoholic father died. He has never left home and runs the local Post Office having taken care of his mother up to her death five years previous.
