After six years of vain effort to battle infertility, Luc and Viviane turn to international adoption. But they will still have to be patient, living in wait and uncertainty. To speed things up, they decide to foster a Vietnamese girl, a refugee, about ten years old, little Ai Thuy, who bears their hope to finally create a real family on her thin shoulders. In less than a year that the little girl is there, the couple’s situation changes a great deal – too much, perhaps, for Ai Thuy to find her place with them and to flourish with the people who have taken her in.
