Ten-year old Raphaël goes to see his mother, Sylvie who has recently moved to Rio de Janeiro where she lives with Michel, an engineer with a large Canadian firm that is building a hydroelectric dam in the Amazon region. During a birthday party for Michel, the little boy mysteriously disappears while he was playing ball. What was to have been a dream visit for Sylvie becomes a nightmare. The next day, Christina, a friend, sees a street child in the crowd wearing Raphaël’s cap. The two women launch into a wild pursuit to find this little Brazilian boy, Antonio, called “The Kamikaze.” They manage, thanks to Gustavo, a social worker, and find out about the terrible situation: Raphaël was kidnapped by mistake by “vigilantes”. Antonio thinks he can identify the kidnappers but he also fears police brutality as much as the criminals’ vengeance.
