A look at one man's struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Maarten and Vera are a Dutch couple living somewhere in rural Canada. Maarten is a foreigner who speaks a foreign language and the English subtitles and the winter setting are central to the film's depiction of the tortured disintegration of Maarten's mind as the disease progresses.
