Gerda

87 minutes, 1992

Creatively based on the Canadian sex and spy scandal that erupted in March 1966 and plummeted Gerda Munsinger into international notoriety. Mixing archival footage with tongue-in-cheek dramatic sequences, the film follow's Gerda's ascent as she moves from slinging harsh in a greasy spoon to encounters with Canadian cabinet ministers. Along the way, we get a tatste of the heady postwar days of Montréal in the 1950s, when gangsters mixed with politicians in smoky jazz clubs and when a good looking girl, who knew how to play her cards right, could get everything for free.
