TROU DU DIABLE, LE

This documentary recreates the discovery of the largest underground cave in Québec by twentieth century cave explorers, portraying their passion. Their research has resulted in three kilometres of tunnels that are more virgin than Amazonia, below the town of Boischatel. This adventure was not without its moments of anxiety, both for the explorers and the residents, who have had to get used to the idea of having tunnels located beneath their homes.

OLIVIER

With his unique talent, Olivier Guimond became the most popular comic Québec has ever known. This film illustrates his career on stage and on television. It was a golden age for burlesque and everyone who had a ‘‘shtick’’. A collection of his acts, from the most famous to the lesser known ones, this film presents the very best of the man ‘‘who could makes the stars laugh’’. This portrait of the man and the artist consists primarily of archive footage: more than 120 clips, from sixty or so original programs, were chosen to pay him tribute.

DISPARAÎTRE

According to some demographers, the French-Canadian nation will be gone within 25 years at the most. That is, unless it begins to produce more children and only welcomes immigrants who truly wish to integrate into French-Canadian society. Politics could go two ways. In offering a parallel between what is happening elsewhere in the world and what is currently happening in Québec, this deep analysis into the nation warns us of the mistakes that we must avoid, and proposes solutions that just might prevent the disappearance of the French people from North America.
